After Brutal Killing Of Journalist Chris Davies, Women In Bong County Angrily Stage Sit-In Protest

Hundreds of women and youth groups, including journalists in Bong County, central Liberia today angrily staging a sit-in protest at the headquarters of the Liberia National Police in the county to voice out their frustration over the brutal murder of a local journalist, Chris Davies who was allegedly shot last weekend by unknown armed men.

According to report from the central Liberia City of Gbarnga, Bong County, the women in their number including civil society actors, journalists say they will remain at the police headquarters until the police give reason why these kinds of situations should happen in their presence.

The Women also wondered why is it that the Superintendent of the County, Esther Walker who is also a mother has not come out to condemn the brutal murder of the journalist, and further called on her to join them at the police headquarters as the sit-in in protest of the wanton killings in the county.

Up to presence the Liberia National Police has not made any arrest in connection to the brutal murder of journalist Davies.

In a related development, the Press Union of Liberia (PUL) through its President Charles B. Coffey, Jr., is calling on the Liberia National Police to speedily launch an investigation into this barbaric act and bring to book those who may be linked to this incident.
