Bong County chief persecutor Attorney Jonathan Flomo says all is now set to reduce the over crowdedness at the Gbarnga Central prison in the county.
Att. Flomo said the Ministry of Justice is aware of the crowdedness at the prison, efforts are underway to ensure the transfer of long term convicts to the Grand Gedeh correction palace.
He stated that the Ministry of Justice was awaiting the dry season to give easy access to bad road network to Grand Gedeh. Atty. Flomo said now that the dry season is here; correction centers vehicles will ply the road with convicts without difficulty.
He also wants inmates at the Gbarnga prison to remain calm as the Ministry is working in collaboration with partners in fast tracking their cases to create conduciveness among them while they are still awaiting their days in court.
The Bong County Attorney further said as a justice actor he is frustrated over the manner in which citizens of Bong County have over the period being murdered and severely victimized by unscrupulous individuals.
Crime rate in Bong according to Attorney Flomo is on the increase noting that there is a serious need for citizens of the county to be sensitized about the adverse effect of those knowing committing crimes. He said the law governing the land will imply under his watch according to the Ministry of Justice mandate.
Att. Flomo has meanwhile called on citizens of the county to stay away from acts that undermine the security of the state.
According to our Bong County Correspondent who tour the facility recently said inmates detained at the Gbarnga Central Prison have expressed complete frustration and annoyance as a result of the over Crowdedness of the prison facility in the County. The cell when built was meant to host three prisoners per room, but currently some room has more than six to nine inmates in one cells and as a result of the titanic barriers, inmates at the center encountering a lot of sicknesses.
But according to the Bong County Attorney, the story is the same everywhere in Liberian jails. Also attributing the over crowdedness of the prison to the delay of complainants to follow up their cases for adjudication.
