LIMANY Says Leave The Mandingo People Properties Alone!

Abraham Turay, President The Liberian Mandingo Association of New York LIMANY

The Liberian Mandingo Association of New York (LIMANY) was founded in the 1990s as a humanitarian organization, and with goal has always been to seek Justice and Peace in Liberia. We aim to uplift and improve the lives of our countrymen/women.

Whenever the Rights of our people are violated, or the peace and the domestic tranquility they deserve are undermined, it is our prerogative to seek a redress.

We mobilized the Liberian Community in the United States and at the United Nations in 2002, against Charles Taylor government for atrocities committed before and during his administration, which led to his ouster.

With regards to the Land issues in Nimba County, we condemn any unlawful eviction of members of the Mandingo ethnic group from their properties in Ganta, Nimba County. LIMANY says leave the Mandingo people properties alone. For peace sake, please stop provoking them. The evicted landowners/property owners do not have the financial means to seek a peaceful redress of their grievances for now. Make no mistake about this, they will in due time be able to overcome this financial burden.

In the meantime, we are calling on the George Weah administration to intervene and to insure that these Mandingo landowners are protected and not evicted.

Sincerely,

The Mandingo Association of New York
