We Welcome Liberia National Police And The Motorcyclists/ Tricyclists Union Constructive Dialogue

This week the Liberia National Police (LNP) began the rigorous enforcement of the no-go zone regulations which prohibits motorcyclists from plying certain area of the city in a bid to enhance road safety and reduce traffic accidents.

The exercise followed intense discussions between the Liberia National Police and members of the Motorcycle and Tricycle Union which led to the signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) by both parties agreeing to respect the terms of the agreement. According to the agreement motorcyclists plying the route are required to obtain all necessary documents including insurance and registration documents as well as the use of helmets and reflective jackets, and protective shoes, among others.

For us we welcome the meeting between the two parties to trash out whatever differences in a bid to mitigate unnecessary tension and forge ahead in the supreme interest of both parties and the country at large.

While we agree that the first day of the enforcement regulations generated much tension which led to traffic congestion at various areas in the country and the delay in commuters getting to their respective destinations on a timely basis, there is still
