Yesterday, June 29, 2020, the first airline, the S N Brussels amid the outbreak of the deadly COVID-19, touched the grounds of the Roberts International Airport with 55 passengers onboard.
This latest gave many the hope whose have been expecting the arrival of their family members from abroad, and also who were stranded to come back home from abroad.
The government has also instituted series of measures at the airport that passengers both departing and arriving must adhere to in keeping with the fight against the coronavirus.
In a statement, the government said all passengers arriving and departing will have their temperature taken for symptoms of COCID-19 and register via mobile number.
The government said all passengers who have been tested at points of departure must present a valid negative document on arrival at RIA, while those who are tested at points of departure will be required to undergo a rapid covid-19 test.
The statement further said in the event of a positive rapid test result, that passenger will be placed in the holding unit at the airport pending the final PCR results, while those will be tested negative will be allowed to go home pending the final PCR results.
The government also said all passengers are to arrive four hours before check-in time and must wear masks.
It further said only ticketed passengers will be allowed entry into the airport, while all passengers among other things will be subject to mandatory screening. Meanwhile, SN Brussels has announced that it will begin regular flights schedule to Monrovia today, June 29, 2020.
According to Brussels airline Chief Executive Officer Dieter Vranckx, the flights schedule shall commence between 15 June and August 2020, with Brussels flight to – Monrovia – Abidjan on 29 June 2020, with two flights weekly on A330-300
