Dozens of health workers from four clinics in District #17 were over joyous when the district Representative, Mr. Hanson Kiazolu made several donations of medical supplies worth over sixteen thousand United States dollars at the Banjor Community Clinic in his district.
Presenting the items last Friday Hanson Kiazolu amidst smiles on the faces of health workers during the donation, said the move was comes out of humility for his people giving the challenges in the health sector of Liberia.
Representative Kiazolu noted the exercise is in fulfillment of his promise to jump start some initiatives after the first six months in office.
The lawmaker said the donation was made possible through a lobby from a friend based in the United States, New York who is a medical practitioner.
Banjor Clinic received five boxes of clinical materials, three medical chairs, one weight machine, and one emergency bed.
The Cedar Clinic in Perry town received one bone machine and three boxes of clinical materials, while the Kpallah Clinic benefited three medical chairs and three boxes of clinical materials and RCD Marshall in Mango town received one operation bed and three boxes of clinical materials.
All of the four clinics also received gloves, beddings, medical suits for health workers and patients among others.
The lawmaker used the occasion to cautioned representatives of the four clinics that the items were not sale, but to buttress their efforts in delivering health care services.
“As the people’s Representative, so help me God, I will continue to lobby in your interest because you repose your trust and confidence in me to represent you at the level of the National Legislature, the lawmaker assured district 17 residents”.
Representative Kiazolu also revealed that a second and bigger consignment of medical supplies to include drugs in the tone 25 thousand United States dollars will shortly arrived in the country to reach out to other rural parts of the district where the health needs of his constituents are of paramount concern.
Receiving the items on behalf of the four clinics, the Officer in Charge of the Banjor Clinic Christiana Massaquoi Geeplay thanked the lawmaker for the donation noting it will help boost their operations to ensure healthcare delivery.
Madam Geeplay termed the donation as timely, noting the clinic was in dying need of beddings and clothes fort patients, while calling on other good will Liberians in the district and beyond to emulate the good example of Representative stressing that government alone cannot do all.
She concluded: “Our health sector is challenged and so these interventions to fill in the gap cannot be overemphasized.
In a related development, several women in Monsterrado county district seventeen have benefited from a donation of one hundred and thirty thousand Liberian dollars from their Representative Hanson Kiazolu.
Representative Kiazolu said the money is intended to assist the women establish their own businesses and contribute to the well being of their families and the community.
The women mostly the elderly received cheques of fifteen thousand Liberian dollars each from different communities in the district.
Providing a background of the loan, Representative Kiazolu noted the loan program started some two months and will continue for the next ten months to be followed by another phase to marketers in the district to boost their businesses.
“The empowerment of our mother, aunties, sisters and daughter remain a burning desire for me, because when they are empowered, their contributions can positive transform lives from the home, district, county and country, the lawmaker noted”.
Representative Kiazolu assured the women, if the loan is used to add value to their lives, he will commit more funding to buttress their efforts.
The lawmaker also presented a cheque of thirty thousand Liberian dollars to two students groups from Lofa and Rivercess counties, noting as an educated, he is always willing to promote the education of Liberian be it from his district seventeen or elsewhere.
“I have been a leader for Liberia and not district seventeen, so I am ready to cross border once it relates to the betterment of Liberia and my fellow Liberians, he pointed out”.
Representative Kiazolu to caution the beneficiaries of the loan and students to take advantage of the goodwill and used the fund wisely and for the purpose it is meant for.
In response, the district seventeen women, thanked Representative Kiazolu for the donation committing the money will be used for its intended purpose.
Some of the women: “We are so fill with joy for what the Representative has done, providing us loan that we do not have to pay back, but do business to impact our lives, they expressed in excitement.
