Monrovia, Liberia – The Liberia National Police (LNP) has achieved a significant milestone in international recognition, securing a prominent position in the 2026 World Internal Security and Police Index (WISPI). According to the latest report, the LNP is now ranked as the 10th best police institution in Africa and 70th globally, a reflection of steady progress in institutional reform and improved service delivery.
This latest ranking represents a substantial leap forward from the 2017/2018 WISPI assessment. During that period, the LNP was positioned 16th in Africa and 106th out of 127 countries surveyed worldwide. This advancement highlights the impact of ongoing efforts to strengthen operational capacity, enhance law enforcement effectiveness, and rebuild public trust within the nation.
The WISPI evaluates police organizations through a rigorous framework of key indicators, including capacity, effectiveness, legitimacy, and outcomes.
