LIBERIA: West Point Commissioner Warn Owners Of Cook Shops, Restaurants To Obtain Health Certificate

A one-month warning has been given to all operators of cook shops and restaurants operating in the Municipal Township of West Point by the local government administrative head Commissioner William C. Wea to obtain health certificate to sell public there.

He gave the warning recently at his office in the township during an interview with reporters.

He disclosed that the township has reach an agreement with the authority f the Star of the Sea Health Center located within the township whereas people engaging in public food sales can be testes and issue health certificate before operating any cook shop or restauranst.

According to him, the inspectorate division of his office has been authorized to arrest, prosecute, and close down any cook shops and restaurants business that does have an official health certificate from the health center mention herein as of December 31 2018.

Mr. Wea notes that even though the warning has been put at the end of December,  the sanitation department of the township have registered over 83 cook shops and restaurants however  only 10 of them has acquired their health certificate.

He adds that the measure is necessary to protect the lives of the over eighty five thousand inhabitants from including children from getting sick simply because they ate poorly prepared food.
