Police Arrest Several For Alleged ‘Gay Marriage’ In Monrovia

Following a breaking news last weekend, that group of gays and lesbians had gathered in a particular building in the suburb of Sinkor precisely at 1am, Sunday, November 10, 2019 having what was known as a ‘Colorful wedding’ involving man and man, and woman and woman getting marry to each other, a situation that led to the community residents where the incident took place to storm the area, the spokesman of the Liberia National Police, Moses Carter has disclosed that several have been arrested for their alleged involvement in gay marriage.

Carter disclosed that the suspects were arrested on Sunday for their alleged involvement in a ‘gay marriage ceremony’. He said the eight persons were arrested  for an altercation that broke out between the alleged gays and some passersby who claimed that gay marriage was illegal and decided to disrupt the process.

The police spokesman disclosed that those arrested are undergoing investigation at the police headquarters pending court trial if possible, adding, “Well, I cannot categorically characterize those in police custody as Gay or not Gay; what I can say to you is, there was an altercation that broke out on Sunday around the 16 Street and our officers responded,” Carter told reporters yesterday.

He also told reporters that there wer some stone throwing, but could not establish how it all started, noting that some properties were vandalized, and furthered that the only thing the police did was to ensure calm and arrested over eight males from the area.
