NBC Boss Lauds Int’l Partners For Support, Vows To Bring Dignity To The Entity

Col. Gregory Coleman, Director General National Bureau of Concessions – Republic of Liberia

The Director General of the National Bureau of Concessions (NBC) Col. Gregory Coleman has lauded some international institutions for supporting his initiatives in his bid to fading out some of the challenges being faced with at the Bureau including logistics and financial support since his ascendancy.

Speaking in an exclusive interview with the GNN recently at his Sinkor suburb office, the former Inspector General of the Liberia National Police, said he is overwhelmed by the level of support been provided by the United Nations Women and United Nations Peacebuilding office through the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) here in Liberia aimed at strengthening conflict prevention.

Col. Coleman speaking further bragged of the reduction of  conflicts are various industrial and concessions, applying what he called ‘Conflict Prevention’ by his professional team at the NBC who he noted are tirelessly performing their duties in solving many of these conflicts that over the years have existed.

He also disclosed that over the year, his bureau, the NBC along with its partners have trained these Multi-Stakeholder Platforms (MSPs) in conflict management and resolution who are serving as mediators between the concession companies and the communities.

NBC Director General of the National Bureau of Concession said he has committed his entity to continue working with communities in concession areas, to maintain peace, while at the same time, engaging partners to support the sustainability of the project with a focus on the livelihood component.

The establishment of MSPs by the Bureau of Concession with support from UNDP through Assessed Funding Contributions came as a result of numerous complaints from citizens in concession areas of being deprived of benefits contained in concession agreements, which eventually sparked conflict.

“The establishment of the MSPs is in an effort to mitigate conflicts between concessionaires and affected people living in these communities. This is a way of identifying and dealing with potential conflicts before they reach a breaking point, and also that since the establishment of the MSPs, there has been relative calm in concession areas around the country, Col. Coleman told the GNN.
