LNP Dismisses Two Officers for Misconduct During CDC Headquarters Eviction
MONROVIA, Aug. 28 — The Inspector General of the Liberia National Police (LNP), Gregory O. W. Coleman, has announced the dismissal of two officers from the Police Support Unit (PSU) for criminal misconduct and abuse of authority. The officers were involved in an eviction carried out at the Congress for Democratic Change (CDC) headquarters in Congo Town, following an order from the Sixth Judicial Circuit Court.
Speaking on Thursday, August 28, 2025, Inspector General Coleman confirmed that the officers, identified as Patrolmen Edwin T. Ceasar and Stephen B. Wanawon, have been removed from active duty. They have also been handed over to the Criminal Service Department for further investigation and potential prosecution.
Coleman stated that the officers’ actions were “unethical” and contravened the LNP’s Administrative Instructions on Discipline and Professional Standards. An internal administrative investigation conducted by the Professional Standards Division confirmed that both officers violated these instructions as well as the Discipline Regulations of 2016.
“The Liberia National Police remains resolute in its mission to serve the public with neutrality, professionalism, and respect for human rights,” Coleman said. “These actions reflect our ongoing efforts to uphold the highest standards of conduct and restore public trust in law enforcement.”
He concluded by thanking the public for their continued cooperation as the police work to build a safer and more just Liberia.
