Liberian Leader Heads to New York for UN 74th Session General Assembly

Flash Back: President Weah during his first appearance, when he addressed the UN General Assembly

President George Weah has departed Liberia, to attend the 74th Session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York, America.

President Weah is expected to address the UN General Assembly Wednesday, September 25, 2019. It will be his second time address to world leaders at the United Nations since he assumed the Presidency.

The Liberian leader is due to participate in several High Level panel discussions including a climate change summit to be convened by the UN Secretary General, Antonio Guteres.

Information Minister, Eugene Nagbe told ELBC that Liberia’s effort in Global Peace and the Sustainable Development Goals are issues to be highlighted by President Weah.

Minister Nagbe said: “President will also take part in series of bilateral discussions with the EU, French President, Emmanuel Marcon and leaders of the EU Member States”.

While President Weah is away, the Minister of State for Presidential Affairs, Nathaniel McGill will Chair the Cabinet in consultation with Vice President Jewel Howard Taylor.
