President Weah Signs Agreement for Liberia’s railways, Buchanan Port to ship Guinea ores

The Liberian leader, President George Weah has signed an agreement that will allow the Republic of Guinea, to ship its minerals through the Port of Buchanan, in Grand Bassa County.
Under the agreement, Guinea is expected to work along with Liberia to develop the railways and improve the Port of Buchanan’s facilities.
The signing of the agreement followed series of bilateral discussions between the President Weah and his Guinean counterpart, President Alpha Conde, during President Weah’s visit to Conakry, in July 2019.
Deputy Presidential Press Secretary, Smith Toby, made the disclosure Tuesday, September 17, 2019 during an Executive Mansion Press briefing in Monrovia.
According to Mr. Toby, “the technical working group and the National Investment Commission are working on the technical aspect of the agreement to commence the project”.
