LIBERIA: ‘We Must Sacrifice If We’re To Succeed’ – Janga Kowo

The Comptroller and Accountant General of the Republic of Liberia Atty. Janga Augustus Kowo has urged officials of government to make sacrifices if they are to achieve in promoting the government’s pro-poor Agenda.
Speaking to the GNN recently, Atty. Kowo noted that he strongly believes that pro- poor Agenda is working in the interest of the Liberian people, adding, ‘The CDC-led government is aware of the challenges motorists and pedestrians face during at night as a result of dark streets, which has resulted in several motor accidents and robberies stressing, “we must sacrifice to achieve our goals’’.
He said street lighting will also boost economics activities and will improve visibility and increase security in the capital and its environs.
Business people and petty traders will no longer have to leave the streets early for fear of being harassed by criminals at night.
Atty Kowo said LEC is currently working to connect all street lights in the city and its environs, The Corporation is also required deployment of additional street lights in various communities.
The pronouncement made by President George Manneh Weah, requesting the LEC to install 2000 street lights on the main streets of Monrovia and its environs.
The president believe that the street lights will improve the businesses in country, after 14 years of conflict in Liberia most children has not seeing street lights in the city.
We officials of government, we should be line with the President vision, which is in line with pro-poor agenda, which is aimed at improving the livelihood of the people of Liberia and reducing poverty.
“Areas to be impacted by the project include: ELWA Junction to Rehab, Clara Town, Logan Town, and New Kru Town.
This will also include the extension of street lights from the Gabriel Tucker Bridge to St. Paul Bridge.
The LEC recognizes, is a major utility in Liberia’s roadmap to achieve post-conflict recovery, assuring the people of Liberia of the corporation’s commitment to increasing access to affordable and reliable electricity throughout the country.
