Various banking institutions in Monrovia and other leeward counties were today, Monday, December 16, 2019 kept busy as transfer of salary payments for public schools’ teachers were reportedly being posted at their various operated accounts by these teachers, a situation our reporter said weakened the huge turnout teachers during today’s go slow.
Last weekend it was announced that all public schools teachers would have gone on go slow starting on Monday, December 16, 2019, calling on all students to stay home, but unfortunately our reporter who visited many of the government run school campuses noticed that many of the teachers had turned out at their respective places of assignment.
Speaking to the GNN in an exclusive interview, some of the teachers said they had resolved to return to their respective classes to teach, because, according to them they did receive text messages on their phones informing them that transfer had been made in their accounts, meaning that their salaries being queried for was already in their account.
“My brother, I had to come teach this morning, because I received a text message that my salary had been sent to my account, with this I had no other alternative but to come to work this morning,” a teacher of the William V. S. Tubman High School who refused to be named beeping with a glaring smile told the GNN.
Our reporter who also visited several government run schools, the Monrovia Consolidated School System (MCSS) this morning said he noticed that few classes at some of the schools appeared emptied, the reason given was that some of the teachers had gone to the bank to receive their salaries as they were been informed through text messages.
