The Executive Chairperson of the Liberia Anti-Corruption Commission (LACC), Cllr. James N. Verdier, has called on heads of public and private institutions to streamline Procurement Departments at their entities.
Speaking in Monrovia recently at programs marking the first graduation program of the UNDP-Chartered Institute of Procurement and Supply (CIPS), Verdier said procurement is a vibrant program that should be guarded in a holistic way.
He added that the procurement department at government ministries and agencies as well as in the private sector is intended to reduce the time taken for stakeholders to search for specific contract packages across several agencies.
Verdier emphasized the need for stakeholders in the public and private sectors in Liberia to undertake a regular revision of the procurement laws.
He then lauded the graduates of the UNDP-CIPS program for the efforts they exerted to acquire additional procurement knowledge, hoping that the knowledge gained will be implemented at their various institutions.
The CIPS is a United Kingdom-based global professional body working for the purchasing and supply professionals.
With an objective of leading excellence in procurement and supply, CIPS aims to promote good practice and provide services for the benefit of a procurement community of 180,000 members.
CIPS also seeks to promote and develop high standards of professional skills, ability and integrity among all those engaged in purchasing and supply chain management.
