The remains of Montserrado County Senator Geraldine Doe-Sheriff will be interred on Saturday, March 16, at the Kaisor Memorial Cemetery in Virginia outside Monrovia.
According to the official itinerary released by the office of the Press Bureau of the Liberian Senate on Monday, a Book of Condolence on behalf of the senator will be opened on Tuesday, March 12, the Rotunda of the Capitol Building, the seat of the National Legislature of Liberia.
On Thursday, March 14, the body of the late Senator will be removed from the Samuel A. Stryker Funeral Parlour and taken to the Capitol Building for official state protocols.
The wake keeping and other activities relating to the home-going of the senator will be held on Friday, March 15, from 6:00 p.m. to 12 midnight at the Paynesville Town Hall, outside Monrovia.
On Saturday, March 16, according to the Senate Press Bureau, the late Senator will be taken to the Sacred Heart Cathedral on Broad Street for a wake-keeping and funeral service which will be followed by burial.
The Montserrado County Senator was pronounced dead on Sunday, February 10, at the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital in Accra, Ghana where she had gone for treatment.
“Iron Lady,” as she was affectionately called, had been a member of the Liberian Senate since she won her Legislative seat on the ticket of the Congress for Democratic Change (CDC) in 2009.
Prior to her death, Senator Doe-Sheriff chaired the Senate’s Committee on Executive.
