A Rahway man was arrested Friday for selling fentanyl-laced crack cocaine that killed three people and hospitalized others.

George Rayford, 38, of Whelan Place, is charged with three counts of first-degree strict liability for a drug-induced death, four counts of second-degree drug distribution within 500 feet of a public park and five third-degree drug distribution and possession offenses.

Rayford allegedly sold the deadly drugs out of his home on Friday, Dec. 22, 2017, according to the Union County Homicide Task Force Supervisor Michael Henn.

Nicole Taylor, 41,  Kacina Vanderburg, 53 and Harold Johnston, 67, all of Rahway, overdosed on the drugs and died.

A six-week investigation found that an unknown number of others had also overdosed on the drugs that same night but survived.
