CSOs Present Petition, Call On Legislature To Setup Committee To Review All COVID-19 Loans, Grants Received

Several civil society organizations under the banner Coalition for Legislative Advocacy on Tuesday, August 11, 2020 presented a petition to the National Legislature on Capitol Hill, calling on that august body to immediately setup a committee of experts to conduct an independent review of all loans and grants received by the CDC-led Government in the fight for COVID-19.
Reading the petition on behalf of the group, the spokesman, Christopher Seton stated that a proper account of loans and grants in the fight against of the COVID-19 will create public confidence and erase speculations of corruption and the misuse of public money. Mr. Seton said the legislature being the direct representatives of the people must go towards in assuring accountability in the CDC government.
Receiving the petition on behalf of her colleagues, the chairperson on Claims and Petition at the National Legislature, Montserrado County’s District #4 Representative Rostonlyn Dennis assured the petitioners that their request presented will be delivered to the full plenary of the House of Representatives, and further assured them that afterwards appropriate action will be taken.
