Business Climax In Shackle, As Several About To Close Down
GNN-Liberia investigation has discovered the unceremonious departure of several business establishments from the country to neighboring countries for what owners of these businesses termed as existence ‘Poor business climax’ in Liberia.
Already major companies including the giant petroleum dealer, Total, the Exclusive Super Store, and several commercial centers are reportedly scaling down as a result of what is being described as ‘Poor business climax’ to sustain their respective businesses.
Recently it was reported by this outlet that two leading hotels in the Country were being strangulated by some officials in the CDC led Government for using their facilities and refusing to settle their financial obligations in the tune of over US$200,000.00, gives a bad signal for the government to investors.
GNN-Liberia investigation few weeks ago uncovered how two high profile officials including the City Mayor of Monrovia, Jefferson Koijee and the National Chairman of the ruling CDC Government, Mulbah Morlu allegedly stayed in these hotels for months without settling their bills with the hotel managements.
Efforts applied by our staff to exclusively interview the managements concern to ascertain the facts on the issue proved unsuccessful for fear of reprisal against them from those being accused, due to their connection to this government.
But sources closed to both hotels informed our staff that the issue is being discussed at a high level for the immediate settlement of the amount in question. According to our investigation, the management of Palm Spring Hotel is striving to collect US$97,828.00 (Ninety-Seven Thousand Eight Hundred Twenty-Eight United States Dollars) from the Monrovia City Mayor, Jeff Koijee during his stay at Palm Spring Hotel.
While the Chairman of the CDC, Mulbah Morlu has reportedly refused to settle his financial obligation with the Boulevard Palace Hotel from January to April 2018 in the amount of US$111, 690.00 (One Hundred & Eleven Thousand Six Hundred Ninety United States Dollars).
In a bid to get the side of both Morlu and Koijee for clarification on the allegation proved unsuccessful as both officials could not be reached due to the absence from the country.
