Women of Liberia to celebrate Winnie Madikizela-Mandela’s Memory

The Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection in collaboration with the women of Liberia has begun preparations in celebrating the life of heroine, Winnie Madikizela-Mandela, who passed away at the Netcare Milpark Hospital in Johannesburg, South Africa on Monday April 2, 2018 in Liberia.
According to the Ministry’s release, the activities as planned will include a day of candlelight, tribute reading, messages of condolences from partners and other line ministries of the government as well special statements from the Ministry of State and the women of Liberia. The memorial celebrating the life of the former wife of anti-apartheid champion Nelson Mandela takes place on the premises of the Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection on Thursday April 12, 2018 at 1:00 P.M.
The Ministry is therefore calling on all well-wishers and women groups as well as Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) to join the celebration of the life of Mrs. Madikizela-Mandela who was one of the greatest icons of the struggle against Apartheid, a heroine who fought for the cause of the people and spearheaded the fight for women and political freedom in her home country and across Africa.
The Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection at the same time express sympathy on behalf of the Government and Women of Liberia to the relatives, friends, and the People of South Africa over the loss of Mrs. Madikizela-Mandela.
Meanwhile, the official memorial service for the late Mrs. Madikizela-Mandela will be held at the Orlando Stadium on Wednesday, April 11, 2018 whereas the funeral service will also be held at the same venue on April 14, 2018 and burial will take place at the Fourways Memorial Park Cemetery according to reports in South Africa.
