During the press briefing, Mr. Gbotoe assured the nation that all necessary preparations for the smooth conduct of the examinations have been finalized. He also highlighted a significant change for the 2025 WASSCE, stating that each candidate will now be required to pass a minimum of four subjects to be eligible for certification. This adjustment underscores WAEC’s commitment to ensuring a more robust academic foundation for graduating students.

In a demonstration of the government’s commitment to education, Mr. Gbotoe proudly announced that the Government of Liberia has generously covered the examination fees for a total of 53,201 students across the nation, enabling them to participate in this year’s WASSCE. This substantial investment aims to alleviate financial burdens on families and ensure wider access to crucial secondary school certification.

Providing a comprehensive overview of the participating institutions, Mr. Gbotoe revealed that an impressive 1,048 senior high schools will be partaking in the 2025 WASSCE. This figure includes 1,045 schools from Liberia and, notably, three schools from the neighboring Republic of Guinea, highlighting the regional significance of the examination. Among these participating institutions, 856 are private schools, accounting for a significant 36,428 candidates. The remaining 192 are public schools, with examinations being administered across 379 centers nationwide. This extensive network of examination centers aims to ensure accessibility for all registered candidates across Liberia.

Mr. Gbotoe concluded by reiterating the unwavering commitment of the Liberian government to ensure a seamless and successful examination process for every candidate. This assurance aims to provide a conducive environment for students to demonstrate their academic achievements and progress to the next stage of their educational journeys. The successful execution of the 2025 WASSCE is a crucial step in fostering educational development and empowering the future leaders of Liberia.
