By James T. Brooks

GBARNGA, Bong County – Bong County Senator Prince Kemmue Moye has announced a significant commitment to enhance the county’s healthcare infrastructure by upgrading five local clinics to full-fledged health centers. This initiative, which includes the transformation of the Gbartala Clinic, is designed to drastically improve medical service delivery across the region.

Senator Moye made this commitment on Saturday, April 18, 2026, during a routine media engagement with local community radio stations in Gbarnga. According to a 2025 report from the County Health Team, Bong currently operates only one health center, located in Belefini, Zota District. The planned upgrades are expected to equip these facilities with the capacity to perform minor surgeries, a development that will significantly reduce the burden of patient referrals from rural districts to larger hospitals.

During his address, the Senator emphasized his dedication to investing in 21st-century health technology to ensure more robust monitoring and management of the healthcare system throughout the county. This announcement came as part of a broader constituency tour conducted by Senator Moye on April 18, 2026, during which he engaged with residents in various towns and villages. Throughout these interactions, community members identified roads, maternal waiting homes, and access to safe drinking water as top priorities for development.

Looking toward the future of the county’s financial management, Senator Moye announced that Bong County is poised to reach a historic three-million-dollar budget. This budget, which is being crafted by the county authorities, is expected to be unveiled during the 2026 County Sitting. The Senator noted that this increase in funding will be instrumental in finalizing major infrastructure projects, expressing his satisfaction that the current administration’s well-structured local leadership has effectively minimized the issue of abandoned projects across the county.

The Senator also touched on national policy, noting that the government has commenced salary adjustments for public employees as part of a broader initiative to improve livelihoods and transition toward a merit-based employment system.

In a move to foster unity, Senator Moye highlighted a strengthening of the county’s political landscape, disclosing that two members of the nine-person legislative caucus, Honorable Josiah Marvin Cole and Honorable Eugene J. M. Kollie, have committed to collaborating with his leadership as chairman. He concluded by commending Dr. Morgan Flomo, Jr., Chairman of the Bong County Peace and Reconciliation Committee, for the significant progress made since the committee’s formation in 2025, describing the appointment of the committee as a vital step in advancing lasting peace and reconciliation within Bong County.
