US Gov’t Vows To Raise Red Flag On Concession Agreement In Liberia
The Bi Legislature on Illicit Financial Flow and Progressive Taxation with the support from the United States Agency for International Development has reportedly received a document from the Columbia Center aimed at aiding national legislature on raising the red flag on a number of issues on concession agreements in Liberia.
The Chairman of the Bi Legislature, River Gee County District #3 Representative Francis Dopoe disclosed that the caucus’ secretariat, the Integrity Watch, has been very instrumental in securing the documents.
Addressing a press conference at the Capitol Building in Monrovia, Representative Dopoe said the effort of the Bi Legislature is not intended to undermine the House of Representatives and the Liberian Senate but will help manage illicit financial flow for citizens benefits.
He said the document, when distributed among members of the both houses, will enable them to use their professional know-how to determine the interest of the locals, the environment, Liberians owned companies among others.
Representative Dopoe however thanked USAID and Columbia Center for the availability of the documents to the Bi Legislative Caucus on Illicit Financial Flow and will onward be submitted to the National Legislature.
