After reportedly failing to show up at the ongoing protest scene for three days to receive a petition from the anti-rape campaigners, President George Weah said it doesn’t make sense for Liberians to present their petition to the United States embassy near Monrovia following their refusal to present it to his officials designated by him.
Speaking in an exclusive interview with state radio, the ELBC, President Weah said Liberians should muster the courage to present their petition to the relevant institution if they have issue that must be addressed by the state.
He said the issue of rape in the country should not be politicize, and that Liberians should take the matter seriously, and further frond on the protesters for rejecting his decision for his officials not to receive the petition who were charged with the responsibility to receive the protesters’ petition.
Meanwhile, the third day of the ongoing protest, Thursday, August 27 the scene of the protest was bloody when riot police well-armed used accessible force by using teargas to disperse peaceful protesters who were demanding to march to the United States embassy in Monrovia to present their petition.
