In a significant move aimed at improving cross-border security and boosting economic ties, Superintendent Henry B. Cole of Maryland County and Superintendent Mike T. Swengbe of River Gee County recently led a high-level delegation to the Ivory Coast. The visit, which focused on strengthening border security, public safety, and trade facilitation, marks a critical step in fostering regional cooperation between Liberia and the Ivory Coast.
During their stay, the delegation engaged in constructive talks with Superintendent Kosahe Nee Kouailos Kalidtor of Tabou, Ivory Coast, along with her team of generals, joint security officers, and army personnel. The discussions were centered on enhancing border control measures, improving safety protocols, and fostering deeper cooperation between the two countries.
Superintendent Cole’s team presented a series of strategies aimed at bolstering security measures and facilitating smoother cross-border trade. These strategies include joint security initiatives, better coordination between law enforcement agencies, and strategies for tackling shared security challenges such as illegal trafficking and cross-border crime.
“We recognize the importance of collaboration in addressing our mutual security and economic challenges,” said Superintendent Cole. “Our discussions with the Ivory Coast team underline the need for a comprehensive approach to border management, which will not only ensure public safety but also promote economic growth for both our countries.”
Beyond security, the delegation also explored opportunities to enhance trade relations between Liberia and the Ivory Coast, seeking to lay the foundation for future economic partnerships. By fostering a more secure and efficient environment for trade, both nations hope to benefit from a stronger, more integrated regional economy.
The visit is seen as a significant step toward improving regional cooperation, particularly in the areas of border security, public safety, and trade. The collaboration is expected to lead to joint initiatives that will enhance the stability and prosperity of both Liberia and the Ivory Coast.
The fruitful discussions between the security teams of Liberia and Ivory Coast are expected to pave the way for more robust partnerships, ultimately contributing to greater regional stability and the sustainable development of both nations.
As Superintendent Cole aptly put it, “This visit is a testament to the strength of our shared commitment to regional stability and security, and it is just the beginning of what promises to be a long-lasting and fruitful partnership.”
