Senator Saah Joseph Denies Holding Meeting With Ex-Rebel Generals, But Noted, ‘Those He Met With Are Also Liberians’

Senator Saah H. Joseph

Following reports a week ago, that Montserrado County Senator, Saah Joseph and Representative Thomas Fallah, both members of the ruling Coalition for Democratic Change (CDC) had meeting with rebel generals of armed men from various armed factions that took part in the country’s nearly fifteen years bloody civil war, the Senator has however denied meeting with the ex-generals, but noted that those he met with are Liberians.

Last week, Liberians sharply reacted after it was reported in the media, that the two CDC-led lawmakers held a meeting with ex-rebel generals aimed at strengthening the Senatorial bid of Thomas Fallah, Montserrado County District #5 Representative who is serving his third term in the House of Representatives against Montserrado County Senator Abraham Darius Dillon of the Liberty Party (LP) .

But reacting to this report that their meeting with the ex-rebel generals was towards the planning of  strategy to thwart the reelection of Senator Dillon in the pending midterm senatorial election, denied that their meeting with the ex-rebel generals was to intervene in the group planned demonstration against the government for benefits due them.

“They are also Liberians, I as the Senator of Montserrado County it is my duty to interact with them to hear their plight, It is also my responsibility to having meeting with anyone who is not happy with the government; I am a Senator for all Liberians be to where they comes from,” Senator Joseph speaking on a local radio station noted.

He also used his air time to call on his opponent, Senator Dillon to stop what he called ‘Negative propaganda’ against the CDC-led government and focus on how to address the concern of his people in the county.
