The Chamber of the Liberian Senate was today, August 22, 2019 a scene of usual happenings when Grand Bassa County Senator,  Nyonblee Kangar-Lawrence poured hot cup of coffee on the presiding officer of Thursday’s  hearing, Montserrado County Senator Saah Joseph for abruptly adjoining a joint security hearing.

Members of the Joint Security went to the  plenary of the Liberian Senate to address the issue of electoral violence which has engulfed Montserrado County with several being wounded and thousands of dollars properties damaged including the vehicle of one of the constants of the pending Montserrado County by-election re-run for six electoral districts in District 15.

The uproar started when both Senators Henry Yallah of Bong County proffered for the hearing to be adjoined approved by Saah Joseph  who was presiding in the absent of  Senate Pro-Temporal, Albert Chie decided to adjoin the meeting with the security executives who were already seated to address themselves on  the prevailing electoral violence.

The rejected senators who were angry over the action of their colleagues vowed not to sit under their leadership, as some of the senators walked out of the session throwing insults at their colleagues, calling both Senators Joseph and Yallah as criminals.

“I cannot sit under the leadership of Saah Joseph to preside over any session, he is a criminal,” Senator Oscar Cooper of Margibi County  venting out his frustration like other senators said in an angry tune.

For Senator Nyonblee Kangar-Lawrence who earlier poured hot cup of coffee on her colleague (Saah Joseph) said she has no regret of doing so, adding, “I have no regret for my action,” She told legislative reporters in a rather serious mood.

Senator Joseph who appeared dejected following the action of his colleagues told legislative reporters that he will write a formal complaint to the plenary of the action of Senator Kangar-Lawrence for pouring hot cup of coffee on him, stressing, “I will do a formal complaint to the plenary against Senator Kangar-Lawrence for what she has done today,” he said.
