Rep J. Fonati Koffa Frowns On Kinsmen For The Alleged Flogging Of ‘Man Of God’

Grand Kru District #2 Representative Cllr. Jonathan Fonati Koffa has frowned at his kinsmen regarding a situation that reportedly led to the flogging of a pastor in Parluken.
The statement of Representative Koffa comes in the wake of news in the corridor of the county that a man of God was reportedly assaulted by a traditional devil in Sartiken, Forpoh statutory district.
According to our Correspondent in the County, quoting three pastors of the Sartiken Join Christian Fellowship Church that they were severely flogged by the youth and elders of Parluken, Forpoh Statutory District in Grand Kru for preaching messages of salvation to citizens in their quest of obeying God’s word.
According to the Liberian National Police Authorities on August 31, 2020 received complaint from pastors Joshua Kieh Koyan, Raymond Dweh, and others were severely beaten and held under hostage by the community youths for about four hours on ground that the church in the area was allegedly preaching against their traditional practices and the three man of God have deliberately refused to obey their cultural practices.
The two Ministers’ of God disclosed that the mob violence led to the massive destroying of the church properties and other personal belongings.
Pastors Raymond Dweh and Joshua Kieh Koyan told police preliminary investigations that they were assaulted, their Bibles forcefully taken away from then by the youths and traditional leaders and was made to paid one hundred thousand Liberian dollars, adding church members who came to their rescue, the town people also collected twenty five, and fifty thousand Liberian dollars from them.
Police authorities told newsman that even though the two man of God were assaulted, they are alive, but their medical condition is said to be very grave as the result of beating they received.
The Grand Kru county detachment of the Liberia National Police has investigated and charged seven persons with felonious restrain, Criminal cohesion, terrorist threat, aggravated assault, among others, and pending Court Action.
According to the Grand Kru County district # 2 lawmaker, if the pastor preached anything against the community tradition, there was a need in getting in contact with the congregations of the church than to flog a man of God.
Representative Koffa further that, additional 17 manpower [PSU] from the ministry of justice are expected in the county to maintain the peace in making sure that the citizen’s rights be secure.
He said the intervention was made by him and the Liberians Senate Protemp Albert Chie after he was contacted about as per the situation regaling the three pastors of the Sartiken Join Christian Fellowship Church that was allegedly flogged by the youth and elderly people of Parluken.
The Grand Kru District #2 Representative Jonathan Koffa vowed that justice will be served the three pastors in the County.
