Following threatening statements on local radio station by some dismissed agents of the Executive Protection Service (EPS) on Thursday, April 18, 2024, the Liberia National Police (LNP) arrested seven former Executive Protection Service (EPS) agents for their alleged involvement in an illegal protest.

In another development, the LNP has suspended four of its officers and initiated an investigation through the Professional Standards Division (PSD) regarding their alleged involvement in a homicide incident in the 72nd community, Paynesville. This incident occurred during the early morning hours of April 17, 2024.
The decision to suspend the officers stems from claims made by family sources that excessive force was used during the arrest of suspect James Boima. The deceased individual, Austin Yarkpawolo, uncle of the suspect, reportedly died as a result of the force used by the arresting officers.
