President Weah Warns Rice Importers
President Weah warns rice importers not to restrict sales of the commodity to specific businesses, as Commerce Inspector Josephine Davis says Liberia has one million ninety nine thousand bags of rice in stock
While touring major warehouses containing huge quantity of rice at the Freeport of Monrovia Wednesday, President Weah warned that any importers caught increasing the price of rice above the Government stipulated price, there will be consequences.
He however encouraged retailers not to panic stating, sufficient rice are available in the country.
Meanwhile, the Liberian leader expressed disappointment in what he termed as lies being spewed out by some journalists, about rice shortage on the local Market.
For her part, Commerce Inspector General Josephine Davis says one million ninety nine thousand bags of rice were imported into the country over the last two months.
