Flash Back: President Weah preaching at his Forky Klon Jlaleh Family Fellowship Church

Addressing members of a local church on last Sunday, December 16, 2019 in Monrovia, the Liberian leader President George Manneh has seriously warned Liberians to be mindful of any further situation that may cause instability in the country, noting that if anything happens majority of the citizenry will be the victims, while his officials will have the opportunity to leave the country.

In his own words, President Weah said, “the reason I’m asking you to maintain the peace…because if anything happen, you will be the victims. Government officials will have the possibility to leave but you are going to be here. We saw that in our civil war. Mostly the women and children are the victims. So make sure…no matter what happens, whether you have an economic issue, we can solve it. It’s not a one day thing. We have a glorious land, we must protect it; no one must run to refugee camp again,” President Weah addressing the congregation warmed.

The Liberian leader statement which was posted on social media drew huge criticisms from the public, with many wondering as to whether the Liberian Chief Executive see any further trouble that many lead to his officials to abandon their respective assignments and leave the country ahead of the much publicized December 30th protest.

Observers believed the Liberian leader’s statement may be in connection to the pending go slow of civil servants due to the delay of their salary for several months, are intending to use this go slow on Monday in demand of the payment of their unpaid salaries.

Some Liberian political pundits who spoke to the GNN say they are troubled of the Liberian leader’s statement to a church congregation where a battle cry was being heard, questioning the logic of such statement, “Why should the President talked about people fleeing to refugee camps; why he must he also surmised that there will be war that will make his officials to leave the country and leave majority of the Liberian people whenever any trouble breaks out,” Samuel Q. Johnson, a resident of central speaking to the GNN in Monrovia asked.

Like Johnson, others are troubled of the Liberian leader statement that his officials will have the opportunity to leave the country if anything happens, and those who will not have that opportunity will suffer it, “I believe in God that there will be no more war in Liberia, anyone who thinks there will be such, I can say they are dreaming a nightmare dream, and they will be the one will suffer and not the ordinary,”  a marketer of the Rally Time  Market affectionately call ‘Ma Annie Sumo expressing her view on President Weah Sunday’s statement added.
