Maryland County – On a sunny afternoon of May 4, 2024, the bustling community of Pleebo witnessed a significant step forward in local infrastructure development as Rep. Anthony F. Williams spearheaded the groundbreaking ceremony for a new annex at the Pleebo General Market. The $6,000 project, initiated in direct response to an appeal by the “Happy Corner Women,” aims to provide much-needed relief to local marketers, particularly during the challenging rainy seasons.
The proposed annex, expected to be completed in under a month, will offer shelter to thousands of local businesswomen who have been contending with substandard conditions. The quick implementation reflects Rep. Williams’s commitment to addressing the urgent needs of his constituents.
The ceremony was attended by notable community leaders including the newly appointed Mayor of Pleebo City, Larry Geekor, and representatives from various local groups such as the Market Superintendent, the Wheelbarrows Brothers and Sisters Club, the Money Exchange Bureau, and the Motorcyclists Union.
Leading the ceremony, Mayor Geekor highlighted the significant challenges faced by marketers and expressed his enthusiasm for the project, noting it as a pivotal development in his tenure. He pledged the full support of the Pleebo City Corporation (PCC) to ensure the project’s timely and flawless completion.
Standford Neufville, District Coordinator for Rep. Williams, touched on the recent political challenges faced by Williams against incumbent Dr. Bohfal Chambers, underscoring the perseverance and community support that led to Williams’s victory following a Supreme Court-mandated re-run of the election in Williams’s hometown of Old Sodoken.
The local marketing community expressed immense gratitude and joy over the project. They committed to supporting Rep. Williams and to utilizing the new facility responsibly upon its completion, viewing this development as a testament to Rep. Williams’s dedication to fostering community growth and resilience in Maryland County District #2.
