Members of the Joint Security last Saturday, June 27, 2020 arrested a pickup load of several gallons of gasoline in transit to Guinea allegedly using illegal entry point via a town called Gboyee around the vicinity of Ganta.

According to our Correspondent in the County, quoting sources said on last Friday, June 26, 2020, the Joint Security in the County got a hint about an illegal transit of gasoline to Guinea, arresting three persons in connection with the transit.

Meanwhile the Joint Security the day after the arrest on Saturday June 27, 2020 have also turned over the 210 gallon of gasoline to the representative of the Minister of Commerce in the county.

For his part the senior commerce Inspector in Nimba Mr. Alphonso K.S Meahem lauded the effort of the joint security for the arrest and disclosed that “few weeks ago the commerce department in the county arrested five motorcycle that was smuggle in the county through the same border entry”.

He assure the people of Nimba and Liberia that they are going to make sure that those gasoline are sold and the proceeds will be sent to government revenue if those perceived owners cannot identify themselves with the exception of those transporter who are in police custody.

There are several illegal border points that are situated along the St. John River which is causing serious security instability because of the lack of security assigned at the area.
