NYPD: Knife-Wielding Man Shot by Officer in Bronx Apartment

BRONX, N.Y. – A man is dead after a deadly police-involved shooting late Sunday night in the Bronx.

According to police, the incident happened around 11 p.m. inside a residential building located at 1616 Grand Avenue in Morris Heights.

Investigators say officers from the 46th precinct responded to a harassment call involving a 32-year-old male in an apartment on the fourth floor.

Police say the man then advanced towards the officers with a large knife in one hand and a wooden stick in the other.

Police say one officer deployed his Taser, striking the man, but he continued to advance towards officers.

The officer who deployed Taser then discharged his weapon, striking the man in the torso.

The man was transported to Bronx Lebanon Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Two officers were taken to Jacobi Hospital where they were treated for tinnitus.
