NYPD: 5 people shot in Brownsville

Five people — including two people transported to a local hospital in critical condition — were shot early Thursday morning in Brooklyn, according to the city police department.

It happened around 12:10 a.m. near Bristol St. and Dumont Ave. in Brownsville.

Police said a man exited a dark-colored sedan on Bristol St. and shot into a courtyard area of a building at the scene before fleeing.

As of 2:32 a.m., NYPD has not released the identities of the victims or the extent of the injuries to the three other people shot.
