As the Coronavirus attempting to spread its deadly wings throughout the world, Liberia health authorities say they are doing all to prevent the virus showing its face in the country as was done in the case of the deadly Ebola Virus which swept away the lives of thousands of Liberians, and other West African countries.
Speaking on a local radio station, OK FM 99.5 on Thursday, February 13, 2020, the acting head of the National Public Health Institute of Liberia (NPHIL), Dr. Mosoka P. Fallah, said there is no case of the virus detected in the at the moment, and disclosed that several Liberians including Sierra Leoneans, Chines and other nationalities have been quarantined for detailed medical check, but further warned Liberians and other nationalities in the country to take all the preventive measures in avoiding the virus.
Dr. Fallah also disclosed that several Liberians including Chines, Sierra Leoneans, and other nationalities have been quarantined for observation, and lauded the Liberian media for the support in creating more awareness in the prevention of the virus.
He also lauded relatives of Liberians coming from China who he said usually call to inform his institution about their arrival, noting that “We appreciate relatives of family members who are back home from China informing us wherever their relatives arrive back to Liberia. Our people have been posted at the Airport to receive whosoever is coming to Liberia for rapid check and afterward they are taken to an area for observation until it is proven that you are cleared,” Dr. Fallah said.
