(NY1.com) – Opening statements began Monday for three people charged with murder in the 2015 shooting death of an aide to Gov. Andrew Cuomo.
Carey Gabay was struck in the head by a bullet when shots were fired during J’Ouvert, the early-morning street party before the West Indian-American Day Parade.
He died a week later.
Prosecutors in Brooklyn say Micah Alleyne, Keith Luncheon, and Stanley Elainor fired the shots during a gang dispute.
Two other people were charged in the shooting as well.
Kenny Bazile will face a separate jury, and Tyshawn Crawford took a plea deal.
