Ministry of National Defense Hosts Strategic Plan Validation Workshop in Monrovia

 Monrovia, Liberia | September 8, 2025: In a landmark step toward enhancing national security and sustainable development, the Ministry of National Defense (MoD) on September 8, convened an External Validation Workshop at its headquarters in Monrovia. The event focused on reviewing and affirming the Ministry’s Strategic Plan for 2026–2030, under the theme: “Securing Peace, Building Resilience, Advancing Inclusive Development.” 

The high-level gathering brought together an impressive array of stakeholders, including senior government officials, members of the Armed Forces of Liberia (AFL) High Command, development partners, diplomatic corps, civil society representatives, and international organizations. 

In her keynote address, Minister of National Defense, Brigadier General Geraldine Janet George (Rtd.), emphasized the importance of the five-year strategic plan as a foundational document aimed at bolstering the nation’s defense capabilities. “This plan directs our focus towards institutional performance, national stability, and the sustainable development of Liberia,” she stated. 

The workshop featured a presentation of the draft Strategic Plan (2026–2030), a comprehensive situational analysis, and key lessons drawn from the previous planning cycle. Attendees participated in breakout sessions and plenary discussions, offering recommendations to better align the plan with national priorities and international standards. 

According to the Ministry, this validation process reflects a deep commitment to transparency, inclusiveness, and accountability in shaping Liberia’s defense and security future. 

Representatives from the U.S. Embassy in Monrovia, the Executive Mansion, and international bodies such as the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) were in attendance—underscoring the global support and collaborative spirit behind Liberia’s strategic security framework. 

The workshop concluded with a consensus on the finalized plan, marking a key milestone in Liberia’s ongoing journey toward a peaceful, resilient, and inclusive national future.
