Madam Fatuma Fofana Wins The 2022 Sheikh Kafumba Konneh Humanitarian Award In U.S.

Established in 2015,The Sheikh Kafumba Konneh Humanitarian Award is an award named in honored of the late Sheikh Kafumba Konneh who served Liberia with dedication and ultimate sense of patriotism.
The Award is annually presented to one individual who has demonstrated the desire to promote, create and participates in peaceful community activities, as well as addressing the needs of the less fortunate. The winner of this award is also selected based on their role in bridging and cementing peace and reconciliation.
Announcing Madam Fatuma Fofana as the winner of the 2022 Sheikh Kafumba Konneh Humanitarian Award, was Mr Famod Konneh. Mr. Konneh described her as the emerging mirror and light for more minority women participation in community service.
According to Mr. Konneh, over the years, Madam fofana has proven to be a true servant of humanity, evident by her numerous contributions to her community and Liberia at large. Hence, his committee overwhelmingly chose her amongst several names nominated for 2022 Award. In his closing statement, Mr. Konneh congratulated madam Fofana and encouraged her to remain a true servant of humanity across all borders.
Receiving the award, Madam Fatuma fofana thanked the committee for selecting her for such a prestigious award. She promised to do more as long as God continues to bless her. Madam Fofana however noted that everything she does for humanity is from her heart and she has never one day thought of reaping any glory. This colorful ceremony took place on Saturday August 27, 2022 in New Jersey, the USA.
About the award winner:
Madam Fatuma Fofana is the first female and current president of the Federation of Mandingos in the USA. She is the founder and CEO of Basket of Hope and Tuma Foundation. These two organizations currently run free skills training programs for girls and boys in Lofa and Montserrado Counties, Liberia. Over the past 4 years, about 200 young people have graduated from her institutions’ skills training program with skills in tailoring and computer literacy. Those young folks are now serving as productive citizens in their various communities.
