TUBMANBURG, May 28 (LINA) – An instructor at the government-run Bomi Junior High School in Tubmanburg, identified as Mohammed Nyan, has been dismissed for impregnating a 17 year-old student at the school.
Bomi County Education Officer Madam Everlyne Twein explained that teacher Nyan was dismissed for violating the Code of Conduct of the Ministry of Education.
“Instructor Nyan is one of those instructors that are spoiling our education system in Bomi by having an affair with a teenager and has taken her to be his wife,” Madam Twein told the Liberia News Agency at the weekend.
The County Education Officer said as a result of Nyan’s act the student has dropped from school and the Ministry of Education Bomi County branch has informed the Liberia National Police about the issue.
She said the dismissed instructor is being investigated by the Police in Bomi County to take further action.
When contacted, the office of the Liberia National Police Bomi County Commander said investigation is ongoing and that the public will be informed about the outcome of the probe.
