LIBERIA: Suspect Dillon Finally Indicted For Stabbing ‘Car Loader’ To Death

Suspect Oliver Dillon

(LINA) – State prosecutors have finally drawn an indictment against one Oliver Dillon remanded at the Monrovia Central Prison since April for allegedly killing a ‘car loader’ on the Somalia Drive.

Dillon is accused of stabbing Emmanuel Koffa twice in his chest in the Supermarket area in Gardnersville at about midnight on April 12.

The aftermath of police investigation showed that Dillon pull a knife and panged the man, claiming that the victim and other surrounded him with aggression and malicious intents when he returned to his vehicle from his house to collect some items he forgot in the car.

Dillon’s indictment was unsealed on Tuesday by the Criminal Court ‘A’ and served on him at the Monrovia Central Prison where he has been detained since his arrest about two months ago due to the gravity of the case.

However, he is expected to enter a plea in court at the Temple of Justice now that he has been formerly indicted for murder.

Police say the “act” by Dillon violates Chapter 14, Section 14.2 of the Penal Law of Liberia which provides that a person is guilty of murder if he or she purposely or knowingly causes the death of another human being.

Defense lawyers and prosecutors have been going back and forth in the past weeks on the case with the Justice-in-Chamber at the Supreme Court of Liberia over the legal grounds or not, of the suspect enjoying the right to bail bond.
