The management of the Samay clinic in Jorquelleh District #2 has celebrated their second year-end program with an appeal to Deputy House Speaker Prince K. Moye, Senator Henry W. Yallah and Dr. Henrique Flomo-Tokpa to aid them construct an annex to the center.
The samay clinic year end program was the second of its kind since the establishment of the health center by the late Dolo Siakor and others in 1978.
The year-end program coincided with a fund raising rally for the construction of a labor and delivery wards to the clinic in Samay.
It can be recalled over the last one year, the clinic under the supervision of Reverend Obediah Kermue has been in dying need of support from the Bong County Health Team and leaders of the county to assist them with the erection of an annex to the health center in Samay to enable them smoothly carry on their work.
Since the many cries by staffers at the clinic with the latest from Ms. Kollienyan Cooper, the second year-end program was organized by them in collaboration with the citizens of the area including traditional midwives to raise the sum of $5,000US Dollars to construct the annex.
Giving an overview of the program, the assistant OIC at the clinic Ms. Kollienyan Cooper stated that they are in desperate need of support from the leadership of the county and prominent citizens to build the annex.
Kollienyan Cooper said gone are the days when the Liberian health care system was struggling to meet the health services of the citizens.
The Samay Clinic assistant OIC called on Lawmakers of the county including others to aid them in the construction of the annex to adequately provide the needed health services to the citizens in the terrain a quest she said cannot be over-emphasized especially under the CDC led government.
Meanwhile, Kollienyan also called on the Ministry of Health through the Bong county health team to include them on government payroll.
At the Samay clinic, 98% of the staffers are not on government payroll with the delay tactics on the payment of low incentives coming forth.
At the same time, the Officer in Charge at the Clinic Obediah Kermue thanked staffers at the facility for their sacrificial services offered over the year despite of the many challenges confronting them.
Reverend Kermue said though they are challenged with the issues of delivery and labor wards at the clinic along with the placement of staffers on government payroll, they as team remain committed to serving the people of Jorquelleh District #2.
He awarded honors to workers at the clinic and asked them to remain committed in the midst of the unfolding hardship facing them adding that better days are ahead.
Also speaking at the program, the Officer In-Charge at the Tamayta clinic Amos Kwenah thanked the management of the Samay clinic for the initiative.
Mr. Kwenah said he was glad that the clinic staff were innovative to ensuring that the $5,000US Dollars be raised to add another component to the facility to alleviate some of the problems facing midwives and Registered Nurses to carry on delivery successfully.
He stressed the need for more support from the government to meet a standardize healthcare services
The Samay clinic second year end program was greeted with a lot of frustrations from the traditional midwives and the clinic staff as well as citizens as the result of the absence of Representatives Prince Moye, Rep. Marvin Cole and Senators Henry Yallah and Senator Dr. Henrique Flomo-Tokpa and others despite of officially inviting them.
