LIBERIA: Police Probe Man, 25, Who Allegedly Chopped Off Boy,-17,-Tongue
The Liberia National Police is said to have arrested Dairus P. Siryon, 25, a resident of the Outland Community, Police Academy in Paynesville for reportedly chopping off the tongue of a 17-year old boy.
A statement issued by authorities of the police said the suspect is currently undergoing investigation in connection with the chopping off the tongue of victim Henry Giddings, 17.
The statement said on Saturday, February 5, 2022 at 4:30 PM, complainant Angeline Peabody, 37, of the same residence reported meeting her son, Henry, lying unconscious in a pool of blood by 2:00 AM after she was informed by the community Chairman and a neighbor only identified as Roosevelt.
During Police preliminary probe, suspect Siryon told investigators that on Friday, February 4, 2022 at 1:00AM, he was attacked by three unknown persons on his way from a wake.
He furthered that his attackers succeeded in taking away his Tecno Pop 5 phone valued at US$120 and his wallet containing his Liberian citizen ID card plus L$420.
Suspect Dairus explained that two of the attackers escaped, while they left victim Henry Giddings in a fistfight with him who later attempted to bite him. According to the suspect, victim Giddings’ tongue mistakenly entered his mouth and he (suspect Siryon) bit it off.
Meanwhile, victim Henry Giddings was rushed to the John F. Kennedy Hospital for medical treatment by his mother as the suspect remains detained at the headquarters of the Liberia National Police pending prosecution.
