LIBERIA: Police Officer Hospitalized After Alleged Attempted Suicide

A post on the Liberia National Police Face Book page, and approved by the H. Moses Carter, Sr. Head of  Press and Public Affairs  at the  Liberia National Police, disclosed that an officer of the Liberia National Police, Samuel Tulay, a patrol officer of the Police Support Unit (PSU) is currently hospitalized at the ELWA hospital after he was reported of allegedly committing suicide.

Officer Tulay is said to have come from work on Saturday evening about 10 PM when he was offered food by his mother and he refused to eat with no reason given for refusing his mother’s food.

According to the victim’s mother, she only heard gun sound in her son’s room and when they had gone to inquire, he had fired himself around his right eye.

He was rushed to the ELWA hospital where he is currently undergoing treatment.

The leadership of the LNP has reached out to the family and is working to ensuring the well-being of the officer.

All efforts are being made to ensure the wellbeing of the officer while undergoing such treatment.

The LNP leadership has effectively commenced investigation in establishing circumstances that led to the alleged attempted suicide.
