Clara Town Lacks Unsafe Drinking Water, Latrines As Worsening Sanitation Condition On The Rise
Several residents in Clara Town, few kilometers away from the city of the Liberian capital, Monrovia are said t be crying for help over worsening sanitary conditions; call for the construction of public latrines and hand-pumps to address health complications
Last week, a local radio station, OK FM independently gathered that Residents of Clara Town are defecating in open areas and fetching waters from unsafe wells, as a result of inadequate hand pumps and limited latrine facilities.
Some of the Clara town residents explained that the lack of pit latrines and adequate hand pumps is causing them to fetch water from unsaved wells while at the same time using rivers banks to attend to nature.
According to the residents, the current situation poses health hazards to their wellbeing including feces pollution and contaminated water.
