LINA) – The Liberia National Police (LNP) has arrested three suspects, two males and a female, on allegations of murder and kidnapping.
The spokesperson of the LNP, Moses Carter, disclosed that those arrested include 28 year-old Mohammed Agogo Barry, who allegedly murdered 23 year-old Annie Lomax, and also nabbed 34 year-old Michael Gleh and 27 year-old female for allegedly kidnapping a three year-old school-going kid.
Addressing a press conference at the headquarters of the LNP in Monrovia, Carter revealed that suspect Barry was arrested on the June 6 for allegedly killing his girlfriend Annie Lomax in Virginia around a community beyond Ricks Institute while en route to Bomi County and subsequently trying to escape the country.
He noted that Barry is currently at the police headquarters in Monrovia undergoing investigation.
The Police spokesman added that on the 6th of June, the landlord of the deceased identified as Varney Gaye and a resident of the same address reported to the Police detachment Zone Six that one of his tenants identified as Annie Lomax was lying unconscious in her bedroom.
Based on the report, a team of investigators, including a medical practitioner from the Iron Gate clinic, was dispatched to the scene of the incident.
The team established that the victim was strangled to death by suspect Barry.
The investigators further uncovered a communication in the room of the deceased, which states: “I regret the situation and time we lived together and we did not listen to our parents” which was allegedly written by suspect Barry.
Meanwhile the remains of the late Annie Lomax have been deposited at the John F. Kennedy Medical Hospital for preservation while investigation continues.
“The family, relatives and sympathizers can be assured of our commitment in ensuring that suspect Barry faces the full weight of the law,” said the police spokesman.
Carter further stated that a 34 year-old male, Michael Gleh, was also arrested on June 4 in Duazon Robertsfield Highway for his participation in a mob action that led to the death of the son of a Liberian journalist, Gibson Jerue Jr. of the same address.
Carter narrated that the deceased was accused of chopping a resident of said community with a cutlass which led to other residents of Duazon taking him around the JR lagoon and beating on him.
The head of communication at the LNP noted that as the result of the beating the victim Jerue was taken to the 14 military hospital where he was later pronounced dead while undergoing treatment.
“The LNP is currently carrying out a serious operation in Duazon, especially where the incident occurred, to ensure that all those who participated in said mob action are made available to face the full weight of the law as Liberia forbids mob action.
“And we have reportedly discouraged residents and citizens from engaging in taking the law into their own hands,” said the police spokesman.
In related development, Carter disclosed that the LNP has made another gain in the fight against trafficking in persons as well as kidnapping by arresting a 27 year-old female Benita Baryo in connection to allegedly kidnapping a three year-old girl from an Islamic school on Gurley Street in central Monrovia.
“She will be duly charged and forwarded to Court as a means of facing the consequences of her actions,” Carter said.
The head of communication at the LNP noted that Police investigations revealed that after suspect Baryo allegedly kidnapped the three year-old child, she relocated her victim to lower Montserrado, precisely Todee district.
The kid was abandoned, but after the launch of a thorough search and probe by the LNP, the victim was found and has been reunited with her family.
