Several youth groups in Pleebo, Maryland County under the banner, Maryland County Youth Association last week in their number presented a statement to the management of the Liberia Electricity Corporation (LEC) regarding the payment of unaffordable light bills charged resident of in their respective communities.
According to GNN Correspondent in the County, quoting the President of the group, Thomas Kumah, the purpose of presenting a statement to the LEC authorities is the relax the charging of huge “Light Bill” been charged residents of the Pleebo Sodoken District.
The statement which was presented on June 9,2020, at various offices of the district authority said an attention has been drawn on the constant habit by the Liberia Electricity Cooperation (L.E.C) to charge what the statement called unaffordable charges been imposed on the citizens by the LEC, the statement further noted.
The Young People holding various placards, described the Administrator of the LEC in the area, Mr. Moses Farley as a complete nightmare to the people of the, stressing, “ I am unhappy the attitude of Mr. Farley by treating the people of Maryland County; disconnecting them from getting electricity without proper notice something which leads to the destruction of many businesses, loss of Finances to our poor people in Maryland, Mr. Kumah added.
Speaking further, he said the People of Pleebo City, Maryland County recently bought two transformers, 60 KVA and 200 KVA worth twenty thousand United States dollars, but still we are paying bills.
