LIBERIA: LDEA Arrests Man, 35, For Cultivating 995 Marijuana Trees In Lofa

(LINA) – The Lofa County detachment of the Liberia Drug Enforcement Agency (LDEA) has arrested a man identified as Morie Brima for cultivating 995 marijuana trees on Seema Road in Vahun District, Lofa County.

The arrest was made on May 10 along Seema Road in Vahun District by a team of officers of the Lofa County LDEA detachment.

Making the disclosure in an interview with reporters in Voinjama Thursday, May 16, the LDEA Commander of Lofa County, Special Agent Moses Nimely, put the cost of the marijuana at L$ 746,250.00.

Nimely said suspect Brima was arrested based upon intelligence and investigation conducted by the LDEA in collaboration with Town Chief Saah Brima and Youth Chairman of Gbongoma Town on the illegal cultivation of marijuana in the district.

Special Agent Nimely further disclosed that the arrest came as a surprise to Suspect Brima, as he cultivated the marijuana secretly.

Suspect Brima has been investigated, charged and sent to the Vahun Magisterial Court for trial, Nimely revealed.

Meanwhile, the LDEA Lofa County Commander has called on community dwellers to work closely with the LDEA in tracking down drug traffickers and dealers, and stop concealing drug and drug-related information from the LDEA.
