The founder of Gbowee Peace Foundation-Africa, Leymah Gbowee

The founder of Gbowee Peace Foundation-Africa, Leymah Gbowee has reaffirmed her commitment to providing materials for school-going kids in 10 counties in Liberia.

Addressing a team of reporters in Bong County recently, Madam Gbowee said her foundation has over the years provided materials and cash for school-going kids in five of Liberia’s 15 counties, and it is now time to touch the remaining 10.

According to the Gbowee Foundation founder, as a Liberian, her dream is to see Liberian children obtain quality education in order to contribute to national peace and development in the near future.

The 2012 Nobel Peace Prize Winner said she will continue to lobby with partners to attract funds for less fortunate Liberian children across the country to enable them realize their dreams of acquiring quality education to become notable Liberian citizens.

It can be recalled in 2018 the Gbowee Peace Foundation Africa made available school materials, including book bags, copy books, and US$20 to each to school kids in Bong, Nimba, and Lofa, among others.

Providing clarification on the issue of her anticipated ambition to contest the upcoming 2020 Senatorial By-election in Bong County, Madam Gbowee said her focus is on the issue of peace and not politics though the post of senator is important to serve her county.

Names of would-be contestants for the upcoming 2020 senatorial by-election have begun to surface in the county, including some former representatives and senatorial candidates in past elections.
